Can you guess the players who are going to do best in the World Tantrix Championship? Have a go by picking a player from each of the lists below and scoring points every time they win a match - it's very easy and you could win a Tantrix CD. You don't even have to have entered the tournament itself. If you have, then even if you lose in Round 1, you'll still have an interest in the results!
You can still enter at any time, even after the tournament has started. You can also scrap an existing entry by submitting a new one if your picks are doing really badly. The later you enter, the less points you can score because you can't score points for matches your players have already played. However, by entering late, you'll have more information, so you can avoid any players who have got a bad draw or have already been knocked out, so that might well make up for some of the points you have missed out on.
You can enter after the draw. You can even scrap all of your original entry by entering again at any time - though then you have to start with no points again, even if you reselect some of the same players as before. Entering late gives you an advantage over those entering early whose picks may already have lost in Round 1 and hence can't score as many more points as someone still left in the main draw - although it is possible for a player to score a lot of points by winning a Plate competition. However, the disadvantage is that you don't score points for any matches players you pick have already won, nor do you get the 6 points for entering before the draw.
The actual rule is that if you enter once the first game in a match has finished, you can no longer score any points for your pick's performance in that match.
If half of your picks lose in Round 1 and decide not to enter the Plate, it might be worth re-entering with 9 players who can still score more points and trying to catch up. However, the person most likely to win is the one who enters before the draw with most of their picks getting through Round 1.
Finally, the organiser of the competition can enter too - I've added my pre-draw picks to the list - any changes in future won't count until I send them to Mike, so don't worry, I can't cheat! :-)
